Terrifying beauty

We have by now witnessed wildfires and unprecedented amounts of snow. To top it all, today the temperatures went up and the waterfall is flowing with a rage I had not witnessed before. There are multiple new falls all over the sunny-side bench and the lost arrow! there is a huge, beautiful one right across my window. It’s almost as big as the “official” Yosemite waterfall. It is so big that makes me wonder where is all that water going to go? the size of it makes the house at the foot of the granite mountain look like a toy doll house. I wonder now… is our next experience to live through a flood?

Living here is the closest I have experience wilderness. And for someone who grew up in rural northern Argentina, picking mangos off the trees and climbing on horses roaming the fields, that’s quite a statement. Here, there is no escaping the thundering sounds of rockslides, there was one just last night by sentinel dome and today we are all struggling to connect to the internet or use phones. There is no leaving the valley if it snows a lot or walks through a burning meadow… Nature raw and beautiful unfolds around me every day. I like it but it scares me.

it’s the clearest evidence of my irrelevance…
